As a former loyal and regular customer, I’m really disappointed by how this place handled my recent experience. They had offered to let me host a monumental birthday party there — then canceled it without even notifying me, apparently to make room for a band instead. It was incredibly embarrassing to have to cancel last-minute with family, friends, coworkers, and my entire high school reunion.<br><br>I also find it confusing that the café promotes a wellness or recovery-friendly atmosphere while serving kava and kratom tea. Both substances can have psychoactive effects — kava acts as a depressant on the central nervous system, and kratom can interact with opioid receptors in the brain. For people in recovery from alcohol or substance use, these drinks might not be appropriate and could even be risky. The messaging just feels inconsistent and poorly thought out.<br><br>I haven’t been back since. I wanted to leave zero stars, but I’m giving one because their matcha drinks are genuinely tasty — it’s just too bad they’re now tainted with the taste of disappointment and unprofessionalism.

The first thing I noticed about this place was how lovely it smelled (very rare for these sort of places). It has a wonderful aesthetic, pleasing all of the senses at the same time! On top of that, the staff are all very kind and professional, you can tell that this place is well run. They also have a wide variety of drinks outside of the normal botanical selection, making it super inclusive! Highly recommended!

House Of MK is Arizona’s Ritual House, an alcohol-free tea lounge and gathering space in North Phoenix for tea, movement and mindful connection. Settle in for conversation, reading, journaling or quiet coworking, or reserve a scheduled yoga, sound, music, poetry or creative gathering. Day House runs Tuesday–Saturday, 10 AM–3 PM; evening tea runs 6–10:30 PM, with a reset closure from 3–6 PM. Sunday and Monday are closed except scheduled special events. Membership is optional; nonmembers need a confirmed reservation, and classes and capacity-limited events require registration. Ring the bell on arrival. Evening service is 18+. The House also offers take-home teas for Phoenix pickup.
