German Calas is the founder of HappyKava and BestKavaBar.com. He joined the kava bar community in 2012 and launched BestKavaBar.com in 2015, then spent the next decade traveling the country, visiting and reviewing more than 500 kava bars and getting to know the people behind them. Kava also changed his life personally: he met his future wife at a kava bar in 2015, married her in 2016, and built a family within the community that had become his safe haven, alcohol-free life after work, office, and third home. German designed, developed, and launched HappyKava in 2025 as his way of giving back - connecting guests, regulars, travelers, staff, and owners while giving kava bars tools created specifically for their needs.
